The film is grim, unrelentingly grubby and unpleasant. As for Carano, she plays a rather amoral bounty hunter who would just as soon bring in her clients dead than alive. The Earth has mostly been destroyed by a massive change in the weather and the few remaining folks live in filth and are either scum or waiting to be taken advantage of by scum. We learn from the prologue that everything sucks. The story is set in the late 21st century. It's a shame, as she is magnetic on the screen.but with films like "Scorched Earth", you lose so much because there's a limit to how much her skills can help a movie that is so unenjoyable to watch.

Sadly, apart from a few nice appearances, often she seemed to land in cheap, inferior films.with inferior scripts. Her fighting skills were top-notch and as a result, a humdrum film was lifted to a higher level.and I looked forward to seeing her other films. While much of the film was okay, Carano was simply amazing. Several years ago, I watched Gina Carano in the film "In the Blood" and was mesmerized. One of the best in the business is Attica Gage (former MMA star Carano), who has a personal score to settle against the ruthless Jackson (Ryan Robbins), an outlaw who has enslaved an entire town, forcing its inhabitants to mine the valuable silver that’s essential to the oxygen- and water-purification process.ĭespite the provocative set-up, the film, directed with a bland earnestness by Peter Howitt (“Sliding Doors”) isn’t so much a climate change cautionary tale as it is a sluggishly executed genre piece.Reviewed by MartinHafer 2 / 10 Miss Carano deserves better material than this.and I am waiting to see it. Welcome to the Wasteland, the end result of a worldwide eco-disaster that has rendered the air unbreathable and water undrinkable, while those who are still driving illegal fossil fuel-burning vehicles known collectively as “Belchers” are the targets of roving bounty hunters. A decent premise - and a game Gina Carano - get left in the dust kicked up by “Scorched Earth,” a dull, draggy post-apocalyptic western set in the not-too-distant, environmentally toxic future.
